Van Bommel tells PSV not to ask for Messi’s shirt at half-time

They can fight over it if they win, says the boss

PSV Eindhoven coach Mark van Bommel has told his players not to ask for Lionel Messi’s shirt at half-time ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League clash at the Camp Nou.

The Dutchman is happy for his players to fight over Messi’s No. 10 if they “get a good result,” but they will be in trouble if they are cosying up to the Barca captain at half-time.

“If tomorrow we get a good result, I don’t care if they fight for Messi’s shirt,” he said.

“That is part of being a professional, to always be concentrating. I know they will ask him for the shirt, but they shouldn’t do it at halftime.”

PSV are widely seen as the weakest team in Group B which also contains Inter Milan and Tottenham.

However, the Dutch champions are top of the Eredivisie standings with five wins out of five.

Yet they have a poor record when it comes to playing in Spain, they have not won in 14 visits.
