Ajax sign Boca Juniors defender as ‘De Ligt replacement’

Lisandro Magallán is said to be the one who will take De Ligt’s place next summer

Ajax have already made their move for what many consider to be the eventual replacement for the expected departure of Matthijs De Ligt. The Amsterdam club have announced the capture of Lisandro Magallán from Boca Juniors, with the departure of their captain, De Ligt, in next summer’s transfer window practically assured.

It is expected that De Ligt will remain with the team for the time being despite the signing of the 25-year-old Argentine. Magallán is 25 and was a starter for the Boca side that reached the Copa Libertadores final, which was lost to River Plate at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.

The defender cost Ajax 9 million euro and signed until 2023.

Barcelona are one of many European giants said to be chasing De Ligt.
