Having secured De Jong, Barcelona want De Ligt next - report
Barça are going to try to get both Ajax players
FC Barcelona have secured the signing of Frenkie de Jong from Ajax, effective next summer, according to various media reports. And now, it seems Barça will also be looking for the signature of his compatriot and teammate, Matthijs de Ligt.
Journalist Mootaz Chehade, who confidently announced De Jong to Barcelona was a done deal on January 9th, is now saying that there is a “big chance” De Ligt will also join because “the Catalan club have now directed their interest” towards him,
According to a report in Mundo Deportivo, citing the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, De Ligt’s preference is joining Barcelona. However, a lot of the clubs that missed out on De Jong - such as Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, and Juventus - are said to be also making a push to land the defender.
The 19-year-old has been tipped to become the best centerback in the world in a very short time by Netherlands coach and Barcelona legend Ronald Koeman.
