The stats which show why Barca were happy to spend big on De Jong
After months of speculation Barcelona announced on Wednesday that they have finally got their man.
Frenkie de Jong will arrive at the Camp Nou in the summer on a five-year deal for an initial €75 million.
It’s a massive fee for a youngster who’s only played 65 games for Ajax, but the stats highlight exactly why Barca were so keen to snap up the Dutch star.
9.7 - Frenkie de Jong has lost possession with only 9.7% of his touches in the Eredivisie since his debut, a lower percentage than any other player (min. 500 touches) in that period. Flawless. pic.twitter.com/PLJVXSi7ZR

Barcelona purchased one hell of a player. That price is eyewatering for a player from the Eredivisie, but given how many super clubs wanted him, it's not a huge surprise. pic.twitter.com/KRaXoWiOmf
85% - Since his Eredivisie debut for @AFCAjax in Feb 2017, Frenkie de Jong has the best dribble success rate of all players in the Eredivisie with 50+ attempts. Outgrown. pic.twitter.com/2WmUmxGsja
