Messi says Barca ‘were ourselves again’ against Sevilla

The skipper admitted they’ve not been playing well

Lionel Messi was the hero again on Saturday as he netted his 50th career hat-trick in a 4-2 win over Sevilla.

Barcelona twice had to come from behind to win the match, and Messi gave a rare interview after the game where he admitted they’ve hit a bad patch.

“You go through different spells in a season,” he said.

“You can’t always play at a great level. We are on a run, if we’re being honest, in which we are not playing our best football and that makes it difficult to score.

“When the play flows better, things work out for themselves. Today we were ourselves again and we played a great game.”

Barcelona found it tough going in the first half and were down 2-1 at the break, but Messi’s hat-trick and a late goal from Luis Suarez secured the win.

Ernesto Valverde’s side now faces two games against Real Madrid, and let’s hope Barca’s bad patch is behind them as they head into some really tough games.
