Wednesday’s match should be a good opportunity to give some of the club’s youngsters and fringe players some much-needed game time.
Puig, Juan Miranda, Busquets and Chumi have all featured for the first team this season and will be hoping to feature against Girona.
The game may also be a chance to hand January arrival Jean-Clair Todibo, who has apparently impressed in his short time at the club, a debut after his move from Toulouse.
Fellow January signings Jeison Murillo and Kevin-Prince Boateng will also be hoping for a run-out, while Umtiti needs game time after a long injury lay-off but may feature at the weekend against Rayo Vallecano.
