De Jong shines as Ajax knock out Real Madrid
The holders were beaten at the Santiago Bernabeu
Frenkie de Jong enjoyed himself at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday night as Ajax dumped Real Madrid out of the Champions League with a 4-1 win that secured a 5-3 aggregate win.
The Dutch side sprang a big shock as they recovered from a 2-1 home defeat in the first leg and deservedly booked their place in the quarter-finals with a wonderful display.
De Jong played a key role in the win and sent Vinicius Junior sliding early on:

He also left Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric on the turf with a neat couple of touches:

Goals from Hakim Ziyech, David Neres, Dusan Tadic and Lasse Schone gave Ajax the victory and compounded Real Madrid’s problems after their two defeats to Barcelona last week.
De Jong said before the match that Barcelona had asked him to knock out Real Madrid when he signed for them in January, and the midfielder will have delighted his new club with the result.
