Sky Sports: De Ligt to rebuff English interest, join Barcelona
The Ajax defender will say no to Premier League clubs, according to the report
Matthijs de Ligt will join FC Barcelona this summer, spurning Premier League clubs in the process, according to Sky Sports News.
The 19-year-old Ajax captain has been linked with a move to Liverpool and Manchester United, but he may opt to join the La Liga champions instead. His Ajax and Netherlands teammate Frenkie de Jong has already agreed to join Barça, and speculation that the defender will follow has been rampant for a while.
De Ligt is Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk’s partner in the Dutch national team, but reports in England say Jürgen Klopp is not interested in another centerback.
Barcelona have plenty of centerbacks as well, but it’s rumored that they see too much quality and potential in De Ligt to pass him up.
