Arsenal not interested in Philippe Coutinho after all - report
What looked like a strong rumor is being denied
Despite rumors stating that Philippe Coutinho would sign for Arsenal on loan, we are getting some dissenting voices throwing cold water on the idea.
French journalist Julien Laurens, who lives in England, recently took to Twitter to write that not only are Arsenal not signing Coutinho, they never were in for the Barcelona player in the first place.
Arsenal are not signing Coutinho. They are not in for him and never were. They are looking actively for a centre back before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

The original report that caused quite a stir was from L’Equipe, which stated that the Brazilian would return to the Premier League via a loan.
It’s no secret that Barça want to offload Coutinho, and it’s been rumored both that they’d be open to a loan and that they are looking for a buyer in the English Premier League. Time is running out for that possibility as the summer transfer window closes in Britain.
Prior to the news from L’Equipe, we had heard mixed messages from different sources. Some stated that there was a chance Coutinho could join Arsenal, whereas others played down the possibility.
Now? Who knows. We await and see how the story develops.
