Barça name 26-man squad for US tour

Without the injured captain, 26 players will travel to America for two friendlies against Napoli

Barcelona are on their way to the United States for a week-long tour that includes two friendlies against Napoli on Wednesday in Miami and Saturday in Detroit, and 26 players have been called to travel to America.

After using quite a few youngsters in the first three preseason games, Ernesto Valverde decided to call his first team plus three Barça B stars who will be a constant feature of the main squad in Riqui Puig, Abel Ruiz and Carles Pérez. New signing Junior Firpo is indeed traveling with the team, but the big news is the absence of Lionel Messi, who is out of the tour with a calf injury.

Following the trip Barça will return to Catalonia for a week of training before the start of the La Liga season, away to Athletic Bilbao at San Mamés.
