Barcelona rule Samuel Umtiti out for ‘5-6 weeks’
More bad luck for the Frenchman
Barcelona confirmed on Friday that Samuel Umtiti will be out for up to six weeks after picking up a foot injury while on France duty.
The centre-back withdrew from the squad ahead of the world champions’ game against Andorra on Tuesday, and Barcelona have now issued an update on his condition.
“The Frenchman continued his recovery process on Friday, and a new test diagnosed him with a small fracture to the second metatarsal of his right foot. He is set to be sidelined for 5-6 weeks.”

It is more bad luck for Umtiti who spent a large part of last season on the sidelines with a knee injury that saw him lose his place in the team to Clement Lenglet.
His latest injury means he faces more time out of the team. Lenglet can expect to continue as first choice alongside Gerard Pique in central defence with Jean-Clair Todibo as back-up.
