The boss is not ruling out a senior call-up

Spain boss Robert Moreno says that Barcelona teenager Ansu Fati could be part of the senior squad to play at the 2020 European Championship.

The 16-year-old has received his first call-up this week, replacing Carles Perez in the Under-21 squad after his Barca team-mate pulled out with injury.

Yet Moreno has not ruled out the teenager making the step up to the senior squad in time for next summer’s tournament.

“I would like Ansu Fati to be with the U21s. We had him in a pre-list,” he said.

”He has broken the system in terms of players in specific age groups. Hopefully he can help the U21s with qualifying.

”I’m not ruling out the fact that he could play at Euro 2020. It would be foolish to say that he will not go.

”There will come a time when we have to look at the different pieces and see who is in the picture. Any good player is welcome in the team.”

Meanwhile, Ansu will be hoping he can make his international debut for the Under-21s. The team play Montenegro in a European Championship qualifier on Tuesday.
