The club want to increase his buyout clause

Ansu Fati is all over the front page of Mundo Deportivo on Monday with a report about Barcelona’s future plans for their 16-year-old starlet.

The headline is ‘Protection for Ansu’ and talks about what the club plan to do with the teenager following his brilliant start to the season in the first team.

Firstly, Barcelona want to keep Ansu with the first team for the rest of the season and be officially promoted to the squad. They don’t really see the point of him heading back to Juvenil A or becoming part of Fran García Pimienta’s Barcelona B team.

The Spanish champions also want to hand him an improved deal, despite the fact he only signed a new contract in the summer that runs until 2022.

However, the problem seems to be that the deal only includes a €100m buyout clause, which is unlikely to deter some of the Europe’s top clubs if they decided they fancied trying to lure the youngster away from the Camp Nou.
