The latest France squad has been announced

Didier Deschamps has been talking about Barcelona’s French contingent after announcing his latest squad for Euro 2020 qualifiers against Moldova and Albania.

Antoine Griezmann and Clement Lenglet have been named in his 23-man squad, while Samuel Umtiti and Ousmane Dembele have missed out again.

The France boss was asked about several players during his press conference and gave his thoughts on Barcelona’s France internationals.

Deschamps on Griezmann’s situation ar Barca

“Not [worried] at all. Even if you have great players at Barcelona, it doesn’t happen in a day. It depends on how they play, how they work with each other Also, he’s put in different positions than the ones he has with France, even though he played wide a long time ago.

Even when he’s not as good, he’s always positive for the team. With us, it’s a different situation, different position, he can play at his best position where I’ve put him a long time ago. Of course, he has a very important role in how we play.

Deschamps on Dembele

He has been ruled out too often because of physical problems. We are entitled to expect more from him. He is a serious candidate to be in the French team 23 but, for now, he is not at his best level. ‘I tell you directly Ousmane, you have to give everything.’

Deschamps on Umtiti and Lenglet

He has been playing for a short time at this time. I don’t know exactly the complications with his knee but, today, Clément Lenglet and Presnel Kimpembe, give me more guarantees at this time. But Samuel is still Samuel, he needs to be in full possession of his virtues and this is not the case at the moment. It is a delicate period for him.

France head into the final round of grames in second place in Group H, but level on points with Turkey. The world champions face Moldova on November 14 and finish off against Albania three days later.
