Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has dismissed claims extra rest will benefit his side over Real Madrid for December’s El Clasico. The match had been scheduled to be played at the Blaugrana’s Camp Nou stadium on 26 October but due to the current volatility of the political situation in Catalonia, La Liga asked that the game be reversed to Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu stadium.

Barcelona midfielder Riqui Puig is not being considered for first-team action by Ernesto Valverde, according to Diario AS. The central midfielder has not featured for the Blaugrana this season and Estadio Deportivo recently cited El Mundo Deportivo in claiming Real Betis, Ajax, Eibar and Real Zaragoza all unsuccessfully attempted to land him this summer.

Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham want Barcelona’s Brazilian mdifielder Philippe Coutinho. The playmaker is currently on loan at Bayern Munich. Per The Sun, Spurs - who once wanted to sign Coutinho - are interested in him again, with the idea that he would join next summer.

Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti is on PSG’s transfer wishlist. According to Calciomercato.com, PSG sporting director Leonardo is interested in the defender’s contractual and physical situation. The Brazilian likes Umtiti, who isn’t getting regular game time for Barca, largely because of his injury problems.

Barcelona are in the market for a centre-back | Marca
While there are still plenty of months to go until the summer transfer window opens, Barcelona are already looking towards shaping their squad for next season. Bolstering the defence is a priority, with the Catalan club almost certainly after a right-back to compete with Nelson Semedo and allow Sergi Roberto to move into midfield.
