Rumors: Suarez, Alena, Rakitic and Todibo latest
January could see a few exits, according to the rumor mill
Luis Suarez to Boca Juniors?
Today’s rumors start with news that Luis Suarez could be set to swap his Barcelona No. 9 shirt for a Boca Juniors one.
Sport report that CNN Radio journalist MartÃn Castilla reckons Boca Juniors and San Lorenzo are keen to bring the Barcelona striker to Argentina.
Suarez has previously refused to rule out a return to Uruguay to play for former club Nacional, but the report suggests he may not be quite ready to leave Europe just yet.
Bayer Leverkusen want Todibo on loan
Mundo Deportivo bring news from France that Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen are interested in signing Jean-Clair Todibo on loan.
Barcelona are not interested in selling the centre-back because they believe he has great potential but could be tempted into a loan.
A move to Leverkusen could allow Todibo to have minutes and develop, while Barca could look to Ronald Araujo to provide cover when needed.
Atletico can afford Rakitic
Ivan Rakitic’s future continues to make headlines, and the latest update suggests that Atletico Madrid are in the running for the midfielder.
Movistar+ reckon Diego Simeone’s side are willing to cough up €40 million to their rivals for the Croatian but may face competition from Juventus, Inter and Manchester United.
Getafe keen on Alena
Another midfielder who could be tempted to head to the Barcelona exit door in January is Carles Alena.
Marca report that Getafe are dreaming about landing the midfielder, and Barca are willing to accept a six-month loan WITHOUT an option buy.
Marc Cucurella is already at Getafe which could help seal the deal, although Jose Bordalas make have to offload a midfielder first to make room.
Barca want a centre-back
And finally today we end with news that Barcelona want to strengthen their defence for next season.
Marca reckon the club want another right-back to allow Sergi Roberto to move into midfield, while another centre-back could also be on the cards.
One of the reasons to bring in a centre-back is because Barca still aren’t convinced by Samuel Umtiti’s fitness and don’t think he and Todibo are providing enough competition for Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet.
