The midfielder has discussed his future again

Ivan Rakitic has been asked about his future yet again and seems pretty open to the idea of moving to La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid or former club Sevilla.

The Croatia international continues to insist his preference is to remain at Barcelona but did admit it would be a dream to return to play at the Ramon Sanchez Pizuain.

“You never know what can happen with my future, my idea is to continue in Barcelona, what I want above all is to play and I think I can give a lot still - and where better to play than Barcelona,” he said.

“Joining Atletico Madrid? We will see what will happen. It is a great team that has shown that it fights for all titles, and I also want to fight for all titles.

“Joining Sevilla? Playing in the Sánchez-Pizjuán is the most beautiful thing as a player. Would I go back? We’ll see. If it is time to speak about it then I will.

“Everyone already knows that I will be delighted, I always said that if I play for an old shirt again it will be the one of Sevilla, I hope it can happen one day.

“Every year you see a better and stronger Sevilla and that fills me with pride and joy. My dream would be to wear the Sevilla shirt again.”

Rakitic had looked destined for a Barcelona exit after being benched by Ernesto Valverde earlier this season, but he has started the club’s last two games which suggests his Barcelona career may not be quite over yet.

However, move to Sevilla may be difficult to achieve in January. Monchi has already come out and said a return would be “very difficult” and is “unlikely” which means he may have to look elsewhere if he is deemed surplus to requirements.
