Matheus Fernandes seems to confirm he’s leaving Palmeiras for Barcelona
The midfielder is expected to be loaned to Real Valladolid
Palmeiras midfielder Matheus Fernandes seems to have confirmed speculation he will join Barcelona in January with a post on Instagram.
The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to the Camp Nou for a few weeks now and his social media activity suggests a deal is pretty much done.
The midfielder has changed his Instagram bio which seems to confirm rumors he will sign for the Catalan giants and then spend the rest of the season on loan at Real Valladolid.

He’s also posted a lengthy goodbye message to Palmeiras fans. Although he does not mention Barca he says he’s “never been good at goodbyes but sometimes they are necessary” and also explains “today has come to realise a dream of playing in Europe.”
Official confirmation from Barcelona is expected but it’s believed he will sign for €7 million plus variables.
