The club has seen there is no other option besides paying full price

There’s a complete and total agreement for FC Barcelona to sign Martin Braithwaite , according to a new report in Spain. The Catalans will reportedly pay the forward’s €18 million release clause after Leganés insisted they will not negotiate the price. Rumor has it that the team wants to announce the signing today, which has been delayed thus far for logistical reasons. Braithwaite will sign until June 2023.

It was said that Barcelona were ready to get Ángel Rodríguez from Getafe but ultimately manager Quique Setién wanted Braithwaite more. One key reason for that was that Braithwaite can operate as a centerforward or winger, while Ángel is a pure #9.

Barça were without Luis Suárez due to injury going into the winter market, and considered making a signing. They, however, counted on the recovery of Ousmane Dembélé to bolster the forward line, and didn’t transfer anyone in. In fact, the team sold two B team forwards - Abel Ruiz and Carles Pérez.

Things changed when Dembélé suffered an injury relapse. Barcelona were left with only Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann fit, plus teenager Ansu Fati, when it came to forwards.

Barcelona are allowed to sign one player outside of the transfer window as an emergency replacement for a long-term injured player according to La Liga rules.to sign
