“It’s true that one day I would also like to play in Spain.”

Manchester City star Bernardo Silva has admitted he would like to play with Lionel Messi. While Silva also said he would like to play in Spain one day, the Portuguese was noncommittal about whether he was seriously considering joining Barcelona.

“I play with Cristiano Ronaldo in the national team and to be able to say that I play with two of the best players in history would be a pleasure, but it’s a complicated matter. If he wants to come to City, he’s welcome,” Silva said while speaking to Catalan radio.

Silva was also asked whether his style would be perfect for playing for a team like Barcelona, to which he replied: “maybe so, but [the Premier League] is a competition that has always excited me... But it’s true, that one day I would also like to play in Spain.”

He also gave his opinion on former Barcelona midfielder Andrés Iniesta: “one of the best midfielders ever, a legend, and an example for all of us.”

City are preparing a duel with Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, and Silva admits that perhaps the season is on the line now that Liverpool have opened up what looks like an insurmountable lead in the Premier League. It’s said that City are now Catalonia’s second-favorite team due to this match up.

“We have Pep Guardiola, and people love him a lot. And of course, playing against Madrid, the people of Barcelona are also our fans for the time being,” Silva said.

He complimented Madrid as one of the best teams in the world but highlighted Guardiola’s experience at the Santiago Bernabéu as one of the keys for his side to win. He also spoke about who he thought are the favorites to win the competition.

“Perhaps it’s Barça, with Messi, they are very dangerous... I believe PSG with Neymar and Mbappé, if both are doing well and they don’t have a lot of injuries, although they do not have as much experience as Madrid or Barça,” Silva stated.
