Neymar to lose 50% of his earnings next season if he chose Barcelona - report
PSG will pay a ton of money to keep him
Neymar would earn 52 million euros should he remain with Paris Saint-Germain, but he would earn significantly less if he were to switch and choose FC Barcelona. In fact, he would lose around half or more of it, earning just over 20 million with the Catalans. That’s all in a new report from Mundo Deportivo.
The Brazilian star left FC Barcelona for a world-breaking fee to join PSG a few years ago, but he has been heavily linked with a return. Reports say the clubs came close to an agreement, and the player himself wanted to leave, but it all broke down last summer.
Neymar will have the chance to leave PSG again when the next transfer window opens, But it may be his last opportunity. Josep Maria Bartomeu remains a fan of his, but his term runs out in 2021. A new club president may not be quite as big a fan.
Barcelona cannot compete with PSG’s Qatari backing, especially as the club already pays so much in salary. However, it is conceivable that should Messi retire, part of the salary that used to belong to the Argentine would move to the Brazilian - if Neymar proved a worthwhile heir to Messi, who is about 5 years older.
