Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez hopes La Liga will resume soon
Clubs can resume training from next week
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez says he hopes top-flight football can return soon but says it’s up to La Liga and the RFEF to decide when to resume the 2019-20 campaign.
The season has been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, but Spain is beginning to ease some of its lockdown restrictions.
Sanchez offered an update on the current situation and also indicated that games would be played behind closed doors if the season does resume.
“I hope it will return soon, and it will be the federations and league to decide when,” said Sanchez.
“We are allowing individual training within team sports.
“But, I believe we will see sports on television again, before we will do with fans in stadiums.”
La Liga clubs are expected to return to training next week, but it is still not clear when Barcelona could return to action.
