Barcelona assistant coach Eder Sarabia has said Luis Suarez has worked “like a savage” to recover from knee surgery and will be like a “very good signing” for the club when they resume action.

Suarez has been sidelined since suffering a knee injury in January that required surgery and which looked to have ended his season prematurely.

However, the striker could still have a role to play if the 2019-20 season is given the green light to resume.

Sarabia spoke about Suarez in a video call with Quique Setien and the club’s media on Tuesday.

“We have a lot of hope that Suarez will be a very good signing,” he said. “Until now there’s been a winter and summer window, and now there’s a confinement window too.

“We’ve seen him work like a savage each day, working and trying to get back as soon as possible. I saw all the goals he scored at Barca and I’m drooling.”

Barcelona players are set to undergo medical tests on Wednesday ahead of a potential return to training later in the week. La Liga president Javier Tebas has said he’s hopeful the competition can resume in June.
