Barca chiefs unhappy at Unai departure for Al-Ittihad
The youngster left in January
Barcelona waved goodbye to Unai Hernandez in the January transfer window after seeing the youngster sold to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad for around €5 million.
Unai was into the final year of his contract at Barcelona but the club did have the option to extend him for another two years - something that didn’t happen.
According to Cadena SER, Unai’s departure has created a bit of an “internal crisis” at Barca and his exit has been discussed by the board.
The report claims there’s been some “discontent” at seeing the promising youngster leave the club, with club chiefs seemingly baffled about why he was allowed to leave so easily.
Unai has been the captain of Barcelona Atletic, and a key player for Albert Sanchez’s team, and had looked to have a chance of breaking into the first team.
That won’t happen anytime soon now he’s moved to the Middle East, but the youngster has already vowed to return when sending out a goodbye message to Barca fans.
