Barcelona defeats Real Valladolid Narrowly Staying Alive in Title Chase!

Arturo Vidal's vital early goal secures Barcelona in a vital away fixture. Now all eyes shifts to Real Madrid's game against an in-form Granada.

Ter Stegan was instrumental for Barcelona against Real Valladolid

It was a struggle in the end. FC Barcelona secured three vital points against Real Valladolid, cutting the lead at the top to just one point. As expected, Barcelona did the only thing they could do in the chase, try to win all their matches. And obviously, there is the small factor of praying for Real Madrid dropping points.

It was an early goal from Vidal created by Lionel Messi which became the difference-maker. Messi with that assist now has 20 assists in this season.

Worries Remain with a Non-Consistent Performance

This was a match of two contrasting performances, in each of the halves. We were awed like the Villareal-like performance early in the first half. For Real Valladolid, who has been defensively very organized there was a real threat of being overrun by Barcelona's innovative formation.

Towards the end of the first half and the majority of the second half, we saw a completely different Barcelona. Many would say that the players were being lazy but that is simply closing their eyes on a fact that is staring at us. The fact of the matter is that the players are completely tired, and fully drained. The squad strength is quite horrible to give them a breather!

Setien Quotes

The coach may have to take a tough call looking at Real Madrid's result tomorrow night. If Real Madrid wins tomorrow, then Barcelona realistically has no chance to win the title. And that means the Coach should rest all of the first team players for the rest of the matches. The priority will have to shift to Champions League pretty soon!
