The teenager made history with his Spain goal

Ansu Fati vowed to keep working hard and to take advantage of the chances handed to him by new manager Ronald Koeman after scoring for Spain on Sunday.

The 17-year-old netted his first goal on his first start for the national team in the 4-0 win over Ukraine, becoming Spain’s youngest goalscorer in the process.

Fati spoke after the match about how welcome he’s been made to feel by the Spain team and his happiness at the victory in Madrid.

“I have to keep working, with humility. The coach is the one who decides who plays. I’ll keep working in each training session as hard as I can like always and if I have the chance I will try to take advantage,” he said.

“We are really happy, above all for the team’s win. We played a great game and have to continue in this way.

“It’s a pride to work with Luis and all the players that are here. They have received me with open arms from the first day and with all the confidence in the world.”

Ansu’s latest goal adds another record to his rapidly growing collection. He’s also the youngest Champions League goalscorer, Barça’s youngest Liga goalscorer, and the youngest player ever to score at the Camp Nou.
