The 17-year-old won a penalty and scored his first goal

Spain boss Luis Enrique was full of praise for Barcelona starlet Ansu Fati after his team’s 4-0 Nations League win over Ukraine on Sunday.

Fati was handed his first Spain start and did not disappoint. He won a penalty in the second minute and scored his first international goal in the victory.

Lucho offered his thoughts on Barcelona’s latest starlet after the match.

“It’s not normal for him to have this spark and self-confidence at this age. But we’ll try to manage that so he can help the team as much as possible, just like he did today,” he said.

“Even though I know him well and what he’s capable of, I can’t say I’m not surprised. He showed such bravery and daring to do what he did in the second minute, beating a player so naturally. I can’t remember him doing anything like that before.

“At his age it’s easy for all the praise to go to your head but he’s mature enough to know that the path he is taking at the moment is the one he needs to stay on to develop as a player. He’s humble, he’s calm and I’m sure it won’t affect him.”

Ansu will now return to pre-season training with Barcelona as Ronald Koeman’s side continue preparations for their first game against Villarreal at the Camp Nou.
