The right-back scored the third goal at Balaidos

Sergi Roberto scored his first goal of the season in Barcelona’s 3-0 win over Celta Vigo on Thursday and spoke about the team’s performance after the final whistle.

The 28-year-old spoke about the changes the team had made after their Champions League humiliation by Bayern and how hard they have worked to put things right.

“It was very important the ambition we showed even with a man down. We still went forward, we still looked for goals, we defended as a team, we played with a lot of desire, we’ve shown we’re really up for things.

“I think we realised after Bayern that things had to change. We’ve worked really hard in pre-season, the team has looked good in training and you saw that when we went down to 10 men and were still fighting at the end.

“Leo looks plugged in, he’s playing for the team, he’s working hard and it’s great he’s still with us and has so much desire.

“Ansu is still very young but he’s showing he deserves to be in the team. He’s scoring, he works hard and I’m so happy for him. I just hope he continues because he helps us a lot.”

Roberto started at right-back again but will face competition for his place going forwards after Barca completing the signing of Sergino Dest from Ajax before the game.
