The defender is a free agent next summer

Barcelona will reportedly wait until the end of the season to land Eric Garcia from Manchester City when the center-back will be a free agent.

The Catalan giants tried in the summer to bring Garcia back to the Camp Nou and were expected to renew their interest when the transfer window reopens in January.

According to Sport, Barca have already seen a bid of €10 million plus €8m in variables turned down and have now decided it’s best to wait another six months.

The club’s tricky financial situation makes any January deals difficult, and the club would rather not give cash to another club for a player who came through their youth ranks.

There seems no danger that Garcia will change his mind about leaving Man City. He’s made it clear his time is up and seems determined to head back to the Camp Nou.

Delaying Garcia’s arrival does mean Barca are still light in defence. Ronald Araujo is still out injured, while it’s unclear when we’ll see Samuel Umtiti back in first-team action.
