Getafe chief discusses Carles Alena’s future
The midfielder moved last month
Getafe sporting director Angel Martin has been talking about the future of Carles Alena and is hopeful the club will be able to keep hold of the midfielder.
Alena left on loan in January and has already made an impact at Jose Bordalas’s side, making four appearances and picking up two assists.
The Getafe chief says it’s possible Alena could end up staying at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez permanently.
“[The transfer window] was difficult, especially because of the teams’ economic situation. It has been impossible to agree anything. It was a strange market, because the summer one also came at the last minute.
“Alena and Kubo were only loans, Barca know their player has a year left on his contract, and if the numbers talked about are within reach and the player is happy ... But if the numbers are out of reach we will wish him the best of luck.”

Alena is one of several Barca players who are out of contract in 2022. Sergi Roberto and Ousmane Dembele are also heading into the final year of their existing deals, something else the club’s new president will need to deal with once finally installed.
