The visitors staged a memorable comeback

Ronald Koeman was delighted with his team after watching Wednesday’s rollercoaster win over Granada in the Copa del Rey.

The visitors looked set to go out of the competition after going 2-0 down but managed to force extra-time with two late goals and eventually run out 5-3 winners.

Koeman admitted it was a crazy game and praised his team’s mentality after the match.

“It was incredible, football is incredible. I think we did well,” he said.

“We had chances earlier, but the team put in a huge effort. Extra time was incredible. It showed the mentality of this team. Incredible.

“The thing that stands out most was the mentality of the team. We didn’t stop trying.

“We knew we weren’t having a lot of luck, we had chances that didn’t go in. They hit the goalkeeper or the woodwork. It seemed like we were going to lose.”

Barca’s turnaround was certainly impressive. Granada were two minutes away from the semi-finals when Antoine Griezmann pulled one back, while Jordi Alba forced extra-time with a header (yes, a header) in the 92nd minute.

The visitors also had to cope with being pegged back in extra-time after going 3-2 up. Granada were awarded a fairly soft penalty and drew level, but Barca were not to be denied and won it through a Frenkie de Jong strike and an Alba rocket.
