Barça meet Athletic in a Final again, hoping for a different result this time

Barcelona meet Athletic Bilbao on Saturday in Seville for the 2021 Copa del Rey Final, and this will be the second title match between the two teams this year after a memorable Spanish Supercup decider back in January.

Athletic won that night with a couple of very late goals, including one in extra time, after Barça worked very hard to earn a 2-1 lead late in the second half. Ronald Araujo was part of the team that night and has identified concentration as the problem with Barça in that game, and says they must be switched on even more on Saturday.

“A final demands concentration from the first minute to the last. Our problem that day was exactly this: concentration. We can’t concede a goal in the last minute. We have to play the game as it is: a final, and give everything until the last instant and look to win it.”

Araujo also talked about not having fans in the stadium, a possibility that was raised last month but was eventually ruled out by the Spanish health authorities, and Ronald will be missing the crowd in Seville.

“It is a pity that they can’t be there. Barça fans are incredible, you can notice it a lot when they’re in the stadium. It would be amazing if they could enjoy the game with us but unfortunately it won’t be possible. Despite that we will fight to the max to win the Copa.”
