The club and the player still haven’t agreed terms

Eric García’s return to Barcelona seems to have been a foregone conclusion for months but that’s not quite the case, and according to a new report the Blaugrana are hoping to finally put an end to the story soon before things become problematic.

Diario SPORT is reporting that Barça have changed their offer to sign the defender on a free transfer from Manchester City, with reduced salaries and increased add-ons which would help Barça financially.

The deal that was first offered in January had a higher wage, but new president Joan Laporta and director of football Mateu Alemany are trying to convince the player to join on a lower number, although the performance bonuses would increase dramatically towards the end of the proposed five-year contract.

García’s camp isn’t exactly thrilled with the changing terms and the two parties are trying to meet in the middle, but the expectation remains that the player’s desire to return the club will eventually speak louder than the finances.

But clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea and even PSG are monitoring the situation and ready to pounce if things go south, so Barça really want to get this done as soon as possible, preferably by the end of April.
