The former La Masia star continues to be followed closely by the club

The topic of transfers at Barcelona will always be one of high interest for fans, and this will be a fascinating summer to watch as new president Joan Laporta tries to improve the team with almost no money to spend.

One of the names continuously linked with Barça is Dani Olmo, the young Spanish midfielder who was a star at La Masia but left for Dinamo Zagreb in 2015. Since then, Olmo has moved to RB Lepzig and become a key part of Julian Nagelsmann’s team, and he’s starting to do the same for Luis Enrique’s Spain side.

Olmo is an attacking midfielder who can play on the wings or as a false nine, and he would no doubt be an important part of the future if he was ever to return to Barça, joining the likes of Ronald Araujo, Ilaix Moriba, Riqui Puig and Ansu Fati to lead the revolution when the time to rebuild the team finally comes.

And the arrival of Joan Laporta could certainly increase the chances of Dani’s return. Laporta spoke a lot about trusting La Masia again during his campaign, and using the best players from the Academy as the base for a successful team as he did in his first stint as president.

Dani Olmo is no longer at Barça but he knows very well how closely the club is watching him and the real interest from the Blaugrana in bringing him back to Camp Nou. If he continues to improve and Laporta gets the finances in order, we could see Dani back at Camp Nou — perhaps a lot sooner than we all think.
