Barcelona appoint new director of communications
Àlex Santos was formerly press secretary for Joan Laporta’s campaign
Àlex Santos has been appointed as FC Barcelona’s newest director of communications following Joan Laporta’s election as club president. He previously worked as the press secretary for Laporta’s ‘Estimem el Barça’ campaign.
Santos also previously worked at EFE, an international news agency.
The spot had been left open since Albert Roura was dismissed in 2017. José Manuel Lázaro had been working as chief in charge of Professional Sports Media and Toni Ruiz had been in charge of Business Media. Josep Vives had been the club’s spokesperson.
The 56-year-old will take charge starting in five days.
This is just the latest of Laporta’s appointments which aims to refresh the club’s chief officers and move on from the Josep Maria Bartomeu era.
