The teams meet in Badajoz on Sunday

Barcelona B will take on UCAM Murcia in the semi-finals of the promotion playoffs on Sunday at the Estadio Municipal Vicente Sanz de Don Benito.

The format of the competition means that 16 teams will play in the semi-finals with the winners going through to the final. The winners of the four finals will then achieve promotion.

Barca B made it through to the playoffs after finishing second and went on to win five of six games in the second phase. Murcia finished up in second place in Group 4 with 43 points from 24 games.

Barcelona B boss Garcia Pimienta has offered his thoughts on his team’s opposition.

“If we maintain this level, we will have options to go through. I hope everyone arrives well, with the utmost confidence to face this first game that will be very demanding.”

“They are a complicated rival, who have already played professional football. They have already been in Second Division A and have a coach with a lot of experience, like José María Salmerón.

“They have expert players like Ribas, Jordi Sánchez, who have played in many Catalan or Segunda A teams. A footballer like Xemi, who we had here in Barça B, also has a lot of quality.

“They are a complicated team due to their experience. Their strength is shown by the fact that they were the leader of their group in the first phase. It will be very difficult as it has been until now.”
