The Bosnian came in a swap for Arthur

FC Barcelona are looking to swap Miralem Pjanić for either Chelsea’s Jorginho or Juventus’s Rodrigo Bentancur, according to reports from Diario SPORT.

The Bosnian himself arrived via a swap deal that sent Arthur to Juve. The deal was widely considered a financial move to try to help both clubs by adding a sale to their books.

Pjanić was projected as a starter or at least a player who would be in the mix to play heavy minutes under Ronald Koeman. But that has not come to pass. Instead, he has slowly lost prominence. When Sergio Busquets went off with an injury in a potentially title-deciding game against Atlético Madrid, 18-year-old Ilaix Moriba was introduced - not Pjanić. Indeed, the Bosnian never saw the pitch.

For that reason, it’s understandable the Catalans are looking for a new home for Pjanić.

One option is a return to Juventus, where he made his mark as a key player in Turin. The report states that there is an “open dialogue” between the two clubs to see if a swap is possible.

Pjanić has not played since March, by contrast, the 23-year-old Bentancur is a regular starter for Juve. It seems implausible that Juventus would accept the swap straight-up and may ask for some extra fees in order to seal the deal.

An option that FC Barcelona would like is to get Jorginho from Chelsea. The midfielder has been a key component of the Blues’ revival under Thomas Tuchel, though, and it seems unlikely they’d part with him unless the Catalans added a lot of money to sweeten the deal. The report does not state there is a conversation between the clubs here, instead only saying that the cules are keen on the idea.

The last option is Inter Milan. Apparently, the Serie A champions are looking to import yet another veteran from the Camp Nou, as they did with good success in the case of Arturo Vidal. Inter would have to propose a player to swap,

However, looking at data from Transfermarkt tells us the player with the closest valuation to that of the Bosnian is Christian Eriksen.
