The midfielder says ‘teams score too easily against us’

Sergio Busquets faced the cameras after Tuesday’s disappointing 3-3 draw against Levante in La Liga and did his best to try and explain where it all went wrong for Barcelona.

Goals from Lionel Messi and Pedri had put Barca in charge of the game and on course for a valuable three points that would have taken the team top of the table.

Yet Levante hit back to make it 2-2 and then found another equaliser after Ousmane Dembele had made it 3-2. The draw leaves Barca’s title hopes hanging by a thread, and Busquets offered his thoughts after the match.

“It feels bad. We know it’s difficult now. We wanted to put pressure on the other teams but we weren’t able to do our job. We didn’t win. We started well, went ahead, got the second goal but couldn’t get the third and, as has happened too many times, errors happened. Teams score too easily against us.”

“We weren’t precise with our passing and they took full advantage. We had our chances but it wasn’t to be and we paid for our mistakes. We’ve not had a good second half.

“That’s the league practically over for us. Teams score against us easily. It’s our fault, we take responsibility. There was a lack of concentration, lack of precision, in so many games, not just tonight.”

Atletico Madrid play next against Real Sociedad on Wednesday before Real Madrid take on Granada on Thursday with the title race now looking like a two-horse race. Barca play again on Sunday when Celta Vigo visit the Camp Nou.
