A look at the top headlines

Barcelona’s transfer plans continue to dominate the headlines in Spain with more ins and outs rumored on the front pages on Monday.

Diario Sport are getting excited about the possibility of a few defenders leaving the Camp Nou before the start of the season.

Sergino Dest, Clement Lenglet and Samuel Umtiti are all on the front cover with a report that states the Catalans would be willing to sell all three.

Barca need to get a move on when it comes to offloading players to cut the wage bill and, because there’s not much movement in the market, could now be open to selling Dest and Lenglet.

Arsenal and Tottenham are the latest clubs linked with a move for Lenglet. Barca are willing to accept a loan with a compulsory purchase option but the problem is the Frenchman “has no intention” of leaving. In any case a meeting is scheduled for this week when Lenglet is back at the club after Euro 2020.

Barca are also, apparently, willing to listen to offers for Dest. The report reckons Barca aren’t completely convinced by the American and are willing to bet on Brazilian Emerson for next season. Dest is wanted by Bayern Munich but is also a target for Inter. However, the Serie A champions could only do a deal if it were an initial loan with a purchase option.

Sport also bring an update on Umtiti who Barca are struggling to shift. The report says Barca are “confident” a deal can be done and reckon the defender’s former club Lyon “loves him” and are crunching the number to try and find a way to bring him back.

There’s also a suggestion that if all three do go Barca could sign another defender. A versatile left-sided central defender, who can also play at full-back and cover for Jordi Alba, seems to be the plan.
