The Bundesliga side want a right-back apparently

Sergino Dest’s name is making headlines with reports claiming that Bayern Munich could try and bring the USMNT star to the Allianz Arena this summer.

The rumor appears to have started off at RAC1 who claimed the Bavarian giants were hoping to take advantage of Barca’s financial crisis by signing one of the club’s right-backs.

Barca obviously have Dest, Sergi Roberto, and Emerson Royal in the squad ahead of the new campaign and need to make sales to comply with La Liga’s salary cap.

Diario Sport have now added a bit more detail. They reckon Dest is Bayern’s preferred choice and have made contact with the USMNT star.

The only thing is that Dest wants to stay at Barca and turned down a move to Bayern before sealing a switch to the Camp Nou in October 2020.

Dest has since explained why he opted for Barca over Bayern.

“Bayern are a great club and there was interest from them, but I followed what my heart told me to and for that I signed for Barca. I think it was the right decision. They are a club with so much history and I’ve always wanted to play here.”

It’s difficult to imagine Barca selling Dest now, while Ronald Koeman has talked up Emerson in a new interview with Barca TV.

“When you are called up for Brazil, with so many great players, that speaks for itself. We had a look at his season with Betis and he will bring a physical quality to our game and given we like our full backs to attack, he will bring us a lot in that sense as well.”

Which just leaves Sergi Roberto. There have been reports Barca would be happy to sell the 29-year-old if a good offer arrives, but it’s not clear if Roberto is really a serious target for Bayern.
