Barcelona’s Ilaix Moriba wanted by RB Leipzig - report
The midfielder’s future is uncertain
Barcelona midfielder Ilaix Moriba has reportedly attracted interest from RB Leipzig who could try to land the teenager this summer.
Ilaix is into the final year of his contract and is yet to renew which has frustrated Barca who will look to sell if they cannot reach an agreement with the youngster.
According to ESPN, Leipzig “are the team that has shown the most interest in his signing in recent weeks,” although Chelsea are continuing to monitor his situation.
Barca are said to be “beginning to accept that his future is away from the Camp Nou” and would be willing to accept offers in the region of €15-20m.
President Joan Laporta spoke about Ilaix last week and once again made the club’s stance on the youngster crystal clear.
“We will try to make sure that his case is not repeated anymore. He has one year left on his contract and does not want to accept the club’s conditions. We do not accept that and we want to send a message to the team.
“If you do not want to renew, we have other solutions. What we don’t want are players made at La Masia who don’t want to renew. He’s a player we’ve given opportunities, but the club is above all. I would like you [Moriba] to think again.
“We cannot allow him to be promoted and then leave. We won’t accept that with any player.
In the meantime Ilaix continues to train away from the first-team and has reportedly been told he will sit in the stands next season if he does not renew and a buyer can’t be found.
