All Barcelona fans and players are going through a bit of a whirlwind in the last week over the reality that Lionel Messi won’t be at the club any longer. The legend officially joined PSG this week after Barcelona just couldn’t get the finances right to keep one of the greatest footballers of all time.

Club legend Xavi feels for Messi, who offered to take a 50% wage cut to stay. The midfielder spoke to The Times this week about Messi and Barca’s failed effort at a new contract.

“I’m just so sad for Leo. It’s a pity to see him and the club couldn’t find a solution.”

“I know that Leo wanted to stay, but in the end it could not be sorted. The only thing I can say now is that I will miss him a lot. It’s even hard for me to picture Messi with a shirt other than Barça’s.

“It’s sad for Leo, especially for how I saw him emotionally at the Camp Nou the other day, but for Barcelona as well.”
