The club is already looking for reinforcements

The transfer window may have only just closed but Barcelona are reportedly already working on targets for 2022.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barca are pretty keen on bringing Dani Olmo back to the Camp Nou and would prefer him to move in January rather than next summer.

The report reckons Barca tried to land Olmo on deadline day but couldn’t meet RB Leipzig’s asking price of €75 million.

However, the Catalan giants are expected to return for the 23-year-old and are keen to fill the first team full of La Masia graduates.

Olmo’s current deal runs until 2024 but it’s thought he would be happy to head back to Barcelona and sign a five-year deal at the Camp Nou.

The price tag may still be an issue but Barca are hoping to be able to negotiate with RB Leipzig once the transfer market has calmed down a little.

Olmo spent seven years at Barca before heading to Dinamo Zagreb in 2015 and then on to RB Leipzig in 2020.

He has previously hinted at a Barcelona return, telling the Players’ Tribune, that “Barca will always have a special place in my heart” and that is was a “privilege” to play for the club.

Olmo’s also made no secret of his desire to return to La Liga. He told Sport Bild in February, “Playing in Spain? I’d be lying if I said it’s not my goal – it is my country.”
