Pep Guardiola has sent his good wishes to new Barcelona manager Hansi Flick as the German prepares to take charge of the Catalans.

Flick is due to start work this week after being announced as Xavi’s successor ahead of the 2024-25 season.

Pep’s been asked about Flick and is clearly hoping the German can bring some silverware back to the club.

“I wish Xavi the best and that Hansi has all the luck in the world. May they help him and give him time,” he told reporters. “We’ve met in Manchester a couple of times. What he did at Bayern was extraordinary, he won everything.

“He will have to adapt to the style of the players he has. The style belongs to the players. And those from Barça can play with many styles. They are young but there are also experienced profiles.

“The Barça bench is one of the most complicated. Everything is known, things don’t stay inside. You always have to win but it should be remembered that the Leagues are not won in September or October.

Guardiola was also asked once again about the possibility of returning but insisted it’s not going to happen, adding: “The door to returning to coach Barça is closed.”

Pep’s future is currently a little uncertain. He is in the final year of his contract with the Premier League club and there has been speculation he could leave Manchester City next summer.
