The key thing looks to be salary structure, due to the club’s financial issues, with previous reports suggesting Barca will offer a five-year deal with a lower wage initially that will rise.
New coach Hansi Flick is also said to have approved the signing, as Barca look to recreate Williams’ partnership with Lamine Yamal at club level.
The two players are already close friends and have struck up a great relationship on the pitch to generate excitement among fans that a deal can be done.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has insisted the club can afford to land Williams this summer, while La Liga chief Javier Tebas also seems optimistic the club have the finances necessary to make the transfer happen.
