Full effort is needed

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has sent out a pretty strong warning to his players as he continues preparations for the new season.

The German coach has already stressed the importance he places on physical fitness and now says he wants to see full effort on the training ground at all times.

“I’ve told the players: If you train at 80%, you won’t be able to perform at 100% in the game. Training is crucial for improvement. It’s all about giving 100% in intensity, focus, and showcasing your skills with the ball,” he told Barca One.

“When you face your opponent in a match, that’s when you prove your worth. It’s like you owe something to the team and you have to deliver. Train well, prepare well, and victory will be within reach.

“Look at the Euro Cup, Spain was strong, but the smaller teams also played smartly and were solid defensively and tactically. It was tough to compete against them. That’s why being in good form is vital to me.”

Flick is currently putting his players through their paces ahead of the start of the new La Liga season. Ansu Fati has been given an individual training regime, while the players are due to play a behind-closed-doors training game against Olot later this week.
