Barca considering handing Szczesny new contract
Even though he hasn’t played yet
Wojciech Szczesny is yet to make his debut for Barcelona but appears to be making a very good impression on the Catalan giants.
The Poland international signed for the club in October, after Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s injury, and will spend the rest of the campaign at Barca.
Yet he could even be set for a longer stay, as Barcelona are considering handing him a new contract, according to Marca.
The club are happy with how he’s settled in and the “exemplary attitude” he’s shown since arriving, despite the fact he’s not played a single minute yet.
For that reason, the club are ready to talk to Szczesny about staying on for another season and continuing to be part of the first-team squad.
The club want to have three goalkeepers but also aren’t completely sure about Inaki Pena’s plans for the future and whether he will be happy to continue as Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s back-up or will look for a new club where he can be No. 1.
