The two players want to stay

Hansi Flick confirmed that both Eric Garcia and Ansu Fati will be staying at Barcelona despite speculation about the futures of both players.

Eric has been targeted by both Girona and Como but Flick looks to have blocked any move this winter and also hinted that he wants him to stay for longer after handing the versatile star a start against Valencia.

“He’s staying and I’d like to have him for another year,” he told reporters.

“He’s very good and I know he wants minutes. He’s been very good today and he’s given us stability and ball movement and he can also play in different positions.”

Flick also confirmed that Ansu wants to stay, despite struggling for minutes at Barcelona this season, and being left out of recent squads.

“I’ve spoken to him and he wants to stay,” he added.

“Everyone wants to play, he’s performing well in training so we’ll see if he can participate.”

The situation means it’s likely to be a very quiet end to the transfer window for Barca. The club needs exits if they want to bring any players in but that doesn’t look like happening now.
