Ansu Fati struggling to even make the bench as he ponders his future
The youngster is expected not to make the matchday squad vs. Sevilla
Tough times for FC Barcelona’s ex-wunderkind Ansu Fati. He broke through as a youngster and almost lit the world on fire, only to for his development to hit a wall due chiefly to injuries.
Now, he stands in an awkward spot. Hansi Flick has used him less and less as the club has insisted he should look for another team. But Fati has evidently rejected such ideas, preferring to stay at Barcelona to stake his claim.
Unfortunately for him, he has yet to feature this year apart from playing as a sub in the cup against lower level opposition. Since then, he has only made it into the matchday squad when Flick has been short of players due to injury. He has not played a single minute, and it seems Flick will only call on him if there was to be some sort of injury crisis.
He’s once again expected to not even make the bench today vs. Sevilla, extending his streak without playing time.
This leaves Barcelona wondering whether Ansu will accept his fate and find another club, probably on loan, in the summer, or whether he will continue trying to make his case by staying in Catalonia.
