Good stuff
Barcelona players ended up having to return from Valencia by coach rather than plane due to adverse weather conditions which led to Hansi Flick cancelling Friday’s training session.
The team didn’t get home until around 6am in the morning but, rather surprisingly, a host of players still turned up for training despite having been given the day off, according to Jijantes.
A total of 13 players were spotted at the Ciutat Esportiva: Jules Koundé, Ferran Torres, Gavi, Alejandro Balde, Iñigo Martinez, Andreas Christensen, Szczęsny, Eric Garcia, Robert Lewandowski, Ronald Araujo, Dani Olmo, Raphinha and Frenkie de Jong.
Of course several players didn’t feature against Valencia for various reasons which might explain why they were so keen to train. Lewandowski and Araujo were rested, while Gavi and Christensen missed out for physical reasons.
Olmo was only a second-half substitute on his return from injury, while Martinez also came off the bench in the 5-0 win.
However, the appearance and willingness of the players to show up on a day off seems a real statement of commitment, particularly ahead of a potentially key weekend in the title race.
